Zen and fighting

Well, this has to do with: Bodhidharma    who many believe lived in the area of the Shaolin monaster y . as you see in the above link of the life of Bodhidharma. So, we find an interesting correlation between the concept of " fighting ", and what is considered by many to be "spirituality".   Well, tomorrow is a a big day for Baha'i's throughout the world. the celebration of the ascension , 100 anniversary,   Abdul' Baha   .   Interesting connection, hard to spell both names. Anyway, to me, Zen translates to practice and not necessarily " achievement ", which to my mind is more like a goal, and goals change based on achievements.  Goals are a whole 'nother thing. So back to fighting and Zen, I think it's not hard to  put this together.  Back to Bodhidharma and Abdul'-Baha, one difference is you can spell check Bodhidharma.  Also there is a major confluence of these ideas, fighting, struggle, practice, service, and teac...

Are ideas like birds or rocks?

So, I have been struggling with " loose ends ", for a while, and now I am trying to do something worse than a loose end, this is going to be like a loose end,  without much hope of resolution.   First to note that life generally has a lot of ideas connected with it. A simple example is " where are my keys ". I get this idea then I go search for my keys, which sometimes are easier to find than others. But certainly there are many ideas that we are involved with. Ideas  on many subjects usually connected in some way with our lives, like relationships, interactions, objectives, many things. Back to the previously mentioned loose ends, one thing to consider, is my loose end was an idea, principally, but one element of the idea was other ideas , principally the idea of democracy, which although it is also thought of as, say , a system of governance.  But clearly a system is an idea principally, although it is implemented with eliminates of what we call life. So...

How hard is it to get the peanuts back from the peanut butter?

This also has subtitle: Is that " !! CRAZY !!"    old man, possibly wise? And so, to start with this has to do will loose ends related to 1) fighting 2) democracy 3) freedom .. The first question of course is : why extract peanuts from creamy peanut butter? - when, so much evolution and technology went into creating the peanut butter in the first place? and so loose ends: I created from the phrase, fighting for democracy is freedom, which I am going to try to tie up with quantum mechanics and Zen, which may fail miserably.  But first, the word democracy  , as far as I know, comes from the times of ancient Greece, and has something to do with people coming from the rural areas to the cities. Anyway, starting with Zen, this is mostly about Mu, or no, or yes, or nothing, which comes from Joshu, an early Zen patriarch (about 500 a.d. in China).  It has  become over time to Zen, a Zen key.   It has to do with Buddha nature being in everything an...

Romance, nostalgia, and the environment.

Trying to tie this together, might lead to some catastrophic digression or something worse.  So I am just going to try to stick  to questions. So, romance, and the question is, who owns romance?  Sixty years  ago you might be able to answer with a conglomerate of  Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Sophia Loren, Marlon Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbra Streisand, or so ... Today, not sure, but my guess would be, the porcupines.  Sounds like, that, without any digression, could be quite an uncomfortable comment.  Something worse? Trouble. So as to nostalgia and the environment.  Well, to start out with I think the environment is a good thing.  I mean, I think an environment is better than no environment at all, which leads to nostalgia, as perhaps that is what we are looking at.  No environment at all would certainly create a lot of nostalgia.  Finally, you can connect that back to romance, as nostalgia does sort of connect back to ...

Just a little bit of terror, briefly.

Well there is no doubt that the last 20 years has massed, a large volume of information on this subject.   Some day, somebody is going sort through that.  But, it is not  out of place to mention that when movies were $0.25 for  admission, terror as much as beauty, drama and mystery was a big draw. Historically, terror has a good deal of significance,  particularly personified by Deimos,   ancient Greek personification of terror ,  a son of Ares and Aphrodite.   We know that for hundreds or perhaps thousand of years, Mars was a primary  deity for the Roman civilization, and of course the moons of Mars are Deimos and Phobos, the children of Mars, the god of war. It seems to me that if we reflect on the issue of terror, it is kind of hard to avoid , that, for one thing, it is quite thoroughly integrated in our lives at various levels. An example, would be waking up to a cougar or bear, inches from your face, an experience wh...

Reality

Having introduced three very difficult words or topics in recent posts I have the gnawing feeling there are more than a few loose ends.  Rather than tie up the loose ends, I will simply introduce a comparative term which allows for  reasonable comparisons.  What follows is in no way meant to be a complete or thorough consideration of what reality might encompass. So the first issue with reality, is that it's easily broken into composites.  For example, three specific candidates would be spiritual, physical and virtual.  This immediately leads to an opportunity for confusion.  Considering physical reality by itself, it does seem like it can be somewhat easily broken down into three levels or domains, and what we call physical is again a kind of composite. At some point there should be some agreement that what we think of as " reality " is not as entirely objective as ,for example, science or even the legal professions might like to imply by the term: "...
