Intelligence, etc. (or etc, etc. )
It seems to me that one of the key elements of this post is the -- etc. --
part, which is a digression, but may be more important in some ways
than the " intelligence " part. I am referring mostly to the movie
here, The King and I with the prominent role of Yul Brynner, and his
enthusiastic embrace of the expression " excetera " ...
Back to intelligence, one problem with this word is certainly it's over
use and under appreciation. It certainly has a big implication for
people who live in the U.S.A. , because of the significant role
the " Central Intelligence Agency ", plays and has played in our
government.
So, I guess we should start off with Roger Penrose , mostly associated with Oxford,
but also the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics. I am currently reading Shadows of the Mind ,
one of his many publications, in which he more or less " proves ", mathematical
thinking/reasoning/"intelligence" ... is not a computation. His work is heavy supported
by the work of Allan Turing and Kurt Godel ...
I should point out, that he was focused on mathematical intelligence, but he
really does not involve himself with other types of "thinking " such as
artistic, medical, legal, and so on, but certainly many of his arguments might
apply to other fields, but really he was addressing Artificial Intelligence, The last
idea of course being connected in time to the notion of " central intelligence " .
Well, there are two ways I can go from here, basically get more technical with
Einstein and EPR or just be brief and I am going for brief.
Basically, intelligence of which there are many " types ", only means something
in relationship to actions. Intelligence is really an approach to succeeding in
those actions we perform, what ever they may be. A quick example would
be the notion of emotional intelligence, which is less related to " data ", but
more connected to " experience " .
Finally, I suggested that it would cost about 20 trillion dollars to re-brand
the U.S. military. It would be expensive, but a lot less expensive to
re-brand ---- the Central Intelligence Agency ---- maybe to something
a little more " intelligent ? ",, etc., etc.,
