Greatness

 Might be a duplicate,,


If you look throughout history there are only 3 people who ended up

great, that I know about,  Constantine, Katherine, and Alexander.  In 

the U.S. we had Jackie Gleason, the Great One, and Muhammad Ali, 

the Greatest.  Of course, there may be some Greats I am leaving out here, 

but that is what comes to mind.

 

I guess, if you are from the Midwest U.S.  , then everybody else in history 

has been mostly pretty good at best.  I take the position that if you examine 

closely at the Planck scale of the Universe, you will find vast potentials of 

greatness.


It's a theory really, but what it really means is, that we all have that potential

for greatness or Greatness, within us.  Maybe just in flashes or in a moment,

but I think it's there inside of us.  I think we should all be reaching for it.

Like they say, if not now, when?

Zen and fighting

Well, this has to do with: Bodhidharma    who many believe lived in the area of the Shaolin monaster y . as you see in the above link of the life of Bodhidharma. So, we find an interesting correlation between the concept of " fighting ", and what is considered by many to be "spirituality".   Well, tomorrow is a a big day for Baha'i's throughout the world. the celebration of the ascension , 100 anniversary,   Abdul' Baha   .   Interesting connection, hard to spell both names. Anyway, to me, Zen translates to practice and not necessarily " achievement ", which to my mind is more like a goal, and goals change based on achievements.  Goals are a whole 'nother thing. Is life fair?

 So this is a hard one, and one that you could go on, and on about. I am going to address it from simply three angles. Certainly many will argue that life is NOT fair, mainly because good things happen to bad people and vice versa.  So that is an argument that might suggest, that well, maybe not so fair. However, from the standpoint of biology you might get a different perspective.  In biology the Tree of Life, is a big deal, and I would argue even a bigger deal for biologist, than the Big Bang, for physics.  So the question would come down to are trees fair? Using the metaphor of Tolkien, the trees played a big role in the battle for middle earth, and therefore could definitely be described as the good guys from that narrative.  Beyond that there could be other arguments, that lots of people like trees, and get particular enjoyment from them.
